Members of the family in Arabic
Family members in Arabic
Family members in Arabic societies include parents, children, brothers and sisters, uncles and aunts etc., depending on what gender they belong to. In general there may be more women in families than men. This trend started during early history when polygamy was practiced among Arabs due to shortage of land. Later women were married off to rich men who had large estates. Such marriages happened mostly between rulers and peasantry. Some wealthy persons would marry off two wives and sons. As a result, the number of male children born out of wedlock increased significantly. Most of these boys grew up being spoiled by their mothers and grandmothers. During the pre-Islamic era, fathers rarely stayed around after marriage unlike later days where usually the father stays until his child reaches.
