Sing a Song of People by Lois Lenski
Sing a Song of People by Lois Lenski

Walking fast or slow;

People in the city,

Up and down they go.

People on the sidewalk,

People on the bus;

People passing, passing,

In back and front of us.

People on the subway

Underneath the ground;

People riding taxis

Round and round and round.

People with their hats on,

Going in the doors;

People with umbrellas

When it rains and pours.

People in tall buildings

And in stores below;

Riding elevators

Up and down they go.

People walking singly,

People in a crowd;

People saying nothing,

People talking loud.

People laughing, smiling,

Grumpy people too;

People who just hurry

And never look at you!

Sing a song of people

Who like to come and go;

Sing of city people

You see but never know!

Sing a Song of People Summary

It starts by enlightening us concerning individuals who walk slow or quick. They are strolling around the city, all over. You can see that everybody is in such a rush.

Further, you will observe individuals strolling on the walkways and on the transports too. It says that you will track down individuals before you just as behind you, yet they will forever be there, that too in a rush.

Additionally, if it is pouring, individuals won't trust that the downpour will stop. All things being equal, they will take an umbrella and go anyplace they need to quickly.

The writer says he sees individuals in tall structures and in the stores that are underneath. Some are riding the lift and it continues to go all over. It then, at that point, lets us know something intriguing with regards to swarms.

The sonnet expresses that although everybody is strolling independently, they all make up an entire group. All in all, while they are isolated, they are as yet joined together. Certain individuals will talk so anyone might hear while some will keep mum.

You will see individuals snickering, grinning, being cranky, however they won't ever glance around. Thus, the sonnet requests that you sing a melody of individuals who will continue going back and forth, You will see them however you won't ever know them as everybody is in a rush.
